California Certified Legal Specialists
The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization certifies legal specialists in eleven areas of law. Certification is an official State Bar credential — earned through examination, demonstrated experience, and evaluation — and it is always attributed here to its certifying body. It is not a rating, ranking, or endorsement by this registry, and directory order remains neutral.
The Board also accredits outside organizations — American Board of Certification, National Board of Trial Advocacy, American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys, National Elder Law Foundation, National Association of Counsel for Children — to certify additional areas. Every specialist designation shown on a profile in this registry names its certifying organization and can be checked against the official State Bar record.

Reading the credential
A certified specialist designation describes an official credential in a defined field — it does not predict the outcome of any matter. Weigh it alongside the rest of an attorney's record: license status, admission date, and verified profile details. The choice is always yours.
